Happy birthday to me! Today I am a quarter of a century old. 25. Whew. Where does the time go? I still remember my 16th birthday — going out to dinner at my favorite restaurant, The Crab Trap, with my family and best friends. I remember we waited almost an hour for dinner because they don’t take reservations and I refused to go anywhere else. Yep, I’ve always been that stubborn when it comes to food. When I want something, that’s it — there is no changing my mind. I’ve become a lot less rigid in the food I’m willing to try. I’m way more likely to experiment with different types of food, whether out at a restaurant or in my own kitchen.
I love birthdays. Always have. I believe everyone should have at least a week long birthday celebration. Hey, you could even celebrate all month if you want! I love lavish birthday dinners, getting together with friends, and of course yummy birthday cakes!
Last year was probably the best birthday weekend I’ve ever had. Leanne and Kelly came to visit and we spent all weekend lounging at my pool, eating out at great restaurants and having an awesome time with our friend Adam and all of his friends down here. That weekend will stand out in my mind forever. Birthdays should be exactly what that weekend was — filled with good times, good friends, good food and leave you with GREAT memories.
But today, instead of honoring myself, I want to honor YOU. To all my readers, the food blogging community and anyone who has helped me get Take A Bite Out of Boca to where it is today, THANK YOU!
Last month, Food Network Magazine featured a birthday cake for every month of the year; this Grasshopper Cake was featured for March. Enjoy a slice to celebrate!
