I’ve mentioned before that when I lived in NJ, I worked at a gym with an awesome cafe and juice bar. One of my absolute favorite things to do was come up with new smoothie and protein shake flavors. There were so many ingredients to choose from that it was pretty easy to make just about anything you could imagine โ various protein powders, tons of fruit (fresh and pureed), oatmeal, raisins, kashi cereal, chocolate chips, coffee beans, juice, soy milk; the list goes on and on. My love for blending up a good post-workout smoothie definitely traveled with me down to Florida.
Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Smoothie
My friend Katie recently blogged about her strawberry, banana and apple smoothie, and it made me think a) I love using apples in smoothies and b) I make smoothies at least once a week; why donโt I start sharing my recipes?! I shared all my favorite recipes for protein shakes in this post a while back. Maybe I’ll do another smoothie series soon… Fruit smoothies, breakfast smoothies, high protein smoothies, green smoothies… Iโve got a little bit of everything!
I have so many favorites that I make on a regular basis, but this one is a newbie and definitely deserves to be in the spotlight.
Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Smoothie
1/2 cup your milk of choice (I used almond milk)
1/4 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 small Granny Smith apple
1/4 cup old fashion rolled oats
1/8 cup raisins
1-2 tbsp cinnamon
6-8 large ice cubes
Blend all ingredients together and enjoy!
i drink (eat?) smoothies ALL of the time. I have yet to throw oats into the mix though. i have to try this!
Sally, adding oats is a really good way to make your smoothie a more rounded meal! It also thicken it up and tastes good too ๐
