Looking for the best Downtown Boca restaurants to visit for dinner?

If you’ve tried to snag a last-minute dinner reservation during season, you know how busy it can get. The City of Boca Raton is packed with buzz-worthy bars, breezy outdoor patios, and chic dining rooms. Whether you’re planning date night, girls’ night, or simply want to experience what Downtown Boca’s restaurant scene is all about, here are six restaurants worth checking out.

None of these Boca restaurants are brand new. In fact, a couple have been in the area for over a decade. These are tried and true spots with regular patrons that keep coming back for more because the food is that good, the service is consistent, and the atmosphere makes them feel all the feels. And yes, these six spots are places that I have really enjoyed and frequently recommend.

Best for Happy Hour: Kapow Noodle Bar

best boca restaurants, boca raton restaurants

The original location of Kapow opened in Mizner Park in 2011 and immediately became one of the best Boca restaurants downtown. Eleven years later, it moved to a large space on the opposite side of the plaza. The restaurant has recently gone through a lot of changes in ownership and management. It took a bit to get their bearings, but they did it, and I personally love what the Kapow menu has to offer now. It’s evolved to include a variety of sushi and sashimi. There are a lot of small plates great for sharing, making Kapow the perfect spot for a group dinner.

Kapow has some of the best deals for happy hour in Boca Raton. 50% off ALL single-liquor drinks, wine by-the-glass, draft beer, and hot sake. There’s also $10 select cocktails and a Snack Attack menu of discounted bites — sushi rolls, tuna poke tacos, wagyu beef potstickers and more — Monday through Friday from 4-7pm. During the week, happy hour is from 11:30 am to 7 pm, and on the weekends it starts at 11 am. Saturday and Sunday even have a late night happy hour from 11 pm to close. With happy hour deals this good, Kapow is one of the best affordable restaurants in Boca Raton.

Kapow blends bold Asian flavors, creative cocktails, and a high-energy atmosphere that easily turns dinner into a full night out, especially if you reserve one of the karaoke rooms!

Kapow Noodle Bar is located at 402 Plaza Real in Boca Raton. The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday from 11:30 am to midnight, Friday from 11:30 am to 1 am, Saturday from 11 am to 1 am, and Sunday from 11 am to midnight. There is also a Delray location at 32 SE 2nd Ave.

Best Food-Focused Hidden Gem: TwentyTwenty Grille

Tucked away in Royal Palm Place, TwentyTwenty Grille has built a reputation as one of Boca’s most beloved hidden gems. This husband-and-wife-owned contemporary American restaurant has been open since 2014. Ron and Rhonda are the sweetest people, and their combined culinary expertise and passion is truly evident through the food, service and atmosphere.

Chef Ron is known for using only the best ingredients, including local and seasonal produce and sustainable grass-fed meats, to create artwork on a plate. You’re not getting anything traditional at TwentyTwenty Grille. You’re getting things like Dorito-spiced rock shrimp with truffled French onion dip, grilled chicken empanada fundido with crispy Naan, miso-honey Yellowtail snapper with pickled ginger and brown butter emulsion, and sticky guava toffee pudding cake.

The menu changes with the seasons, but no matter what, your palette will be both surprised and impressed. This is one of those hidden gem restaurants Boca Raton that you don’t want to miss out on.

TwentyTwenty Grille is located at 141 Via Naranjas #45. The restaurant is open Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 5-9:30 pm and Friday and Saturday from 5-10 pm.

Best for Date Night: Sushi By Bou

trendy restaurants boca raton, boca restaurants,

If you’re trying to impress your date with something a little unexpected, Sushi By Bou is the move. This speakeasy-style omakase spot leans into its unique experience with dim lighting and an intimate sushi counter with just a handful of seats. It’s high-energy without being overwhelming, and the interactive format makes the whole night feel more memorable than your typical dinner reservation.

Omakase can be intimidating, especially if you’ve never dined this way before, but the team behind Sushi By Bou makes things feel more approachable. The 12-course Signature experience is paced perfectly and guided in a way that feels easy, even if you’re new to sushi. At the same time, the quality and creativity keep it interesting for the sushi connoisseurs. If you want to take it up a notch, the ‘Bougie’ upgrade is 17-courses with a Kanpai sake toast. You can go even bigger with the 17-course ‘Bou Reserve’ upgrade which also includes premium enhancements like a caviar bump, foie gras snow, Wagyu upgrade, bone marrow and truffle.

Like I said, if you’re trying to impress a date with a visit to one of the trendy restaurants Boca Raton, Sushi By Bou definitely delivers.

Sushi By Bou is located at 409 SE Mizner Blvd. The restaurant is open daily from 5-11 pm. There are also locations in Palm Beach Gardens at PGA National Resort, and in Fort Lauderdale at Pier Sixty Six.

Best for a Special Occasion: Corvina Seafood Grill

Corvina Seafood Grill is the place to go for seafood lovers in the mood for something more elevated. The restaurant is sleek and polished, giving off the right vibe for any special occasion.

The menu leans into beautifully prepared seafood with just enough variety to make it feel like a full experience. Start with a couple appetizers and order a few courses. You’ll want to take your time here. With the fresh daily catches and plenty of options for any preference, Corvina is a place for everyone.

Also worth noting is this large and lively Boca bar area. On the weekends, it transforms into Corvina Beach Club after 8pm, where music and cocktails are flowing. So if your special occasion dinner happens to be on a Friday or Saturday night, there will be music and dancing waiting for you afterward.

Corvina Seafood Grill is located at 110 Plaza Real S. The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 4-9 pm and Friday and Saturday from 4-11 pm. Corvina is part of P Hospitality Management, who also operates Prezzo in Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens, Dear Olivia in Parkland, Eddie & Vinny’s and Ember & Vine (opening this summer) in Coral Springs, and Amante’s Italian Restaurant in Deerfield Beach.

Best for Girls’ Night Out: Mia Rosebud

trendy restaurants boca raton, boca restaurants

Mia Rosebud is the newest of the group, having opened in early 2024. This Italian restaurant is part of Rosebud Restaurants, a well-known Chicago restaurant group with 7 locations that has now joined the growing list of Downtown Boca restaurants. This is the group’s first location outside of Illinois.

Dinner here is a vibe. While heading here for date night would be fine, I really feel like the restaurant is giving girls’ night. It has classic Italian steakhouse attributes with a modern Boca twist that can only mean being just a little extra. Case in point: the Thursday Ladies Night & Girl Dinner special.

This is the night to grab your girlfriends, get dressed up, and take an Uber because Tito’s martinis and glasses of Rosé are just $5 all night. The ‘Girl Dinner’ menu is $20 for a signature Caesar salad, truffled pommes frites and a choice of vodka or gin martini. That is seriously such a steal. Order a few other main plates to share and you’ll be set.

These special prices are available at the main bar or outside on the piazza, both ideal spots for your girls’ night out reservation.

Mia Rosebud is located at 150 E Palmetto Park Rd. The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday from 4-9:30 pm, Friday and Saturday from 4-10:30 pm, and Sunday from 2-9 pm.

Best for Group Dines: AlleyCat

Ever dine at an Izakaya? It’s a type of Japanese bar with a menu of small, shareable dishes meant to be served with cocktails. That’s what AlleyCat is all about, and it’s become a restaurant Boca locals love to visit.

For group dinners, it’s a no-brainer. This Boca menu is built for sharing, which makes ordering for a group feel effortless instead of chaotic. Think sushi rolls, small plates, and dishes you can pass around while everyone tries a little bit of everything. The cocktails are super creative, many of which incorporate Asian flavors like yuzu or sake.

The space has that perfect mix of trendy and energetic without being overwhelming, so it works whether you’re catching up with friends or kicking off a bigger night out. It’s lively enough to feel like an occasion, but still comfortable enough that you can settle in, talk, and just hang for a while.

AlleyCat is also the ideal choice for a group dine at home. The ‘Homakase’ is meant for up to 20 guests and includes everything you’d want from an omakase experience, in the comfort of your own home with your friends or family! More details about this option is available on the website.

AlleyCat is located 297 E Palmetto Park Rd. The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 5-10 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 5-11 pm. The bar is open daily until midnight.

FAQs

Do you need reservations for Downtown Boca restaurants?

Yes, especially for the spots on this list. Downtown Boca’s most popular restaurants tend to book up quickly, particularly on weekends and during peak dinner hours and definitely during the busy season (typically November through April). You may be fine walking in for happy hour or for seats at the bar, but if you want to sit down at a table to dine, it’s always best to make a reservation in advance.

What’s the best area in Boca Raton for restaurants and nightlife?

Downtown and East Boca is the go-to for the best mix of restaurants, bars, and overall energy. Areas like Mizner Park and Royal Palm Place offer a high concentration of dining options within walking distance, making it easy to turn dinner into a full night out.

Where should I park when dining in Downtown Boca?

Most areas offer garage and valet parking, especially around Mizner Park and Royal Palm Place. There is also street parking around Downtown. If driving, plan a few extra minutes to look for parking. I’m always a big advocate for Uber or Lyft to avoid any stress.
