I’ve lived in South Florida for about 15 years, but it’s rare that I make it north of Palm Beach County. Recently, I ventured north through the Treasure Coast. I drove past Martin & St. Lucie Counties, into Indian River County to spend the weekend at one the top Vero Beach Florida resorts, Costa d’Este Beach Resort & Spa.
This beachfront resort sits on the popular Ocean Drive, a hub known for local boutique shopping, a weekly Farmer’s Market held every Saturday at Humiston Park, and giving off those casual, old Florida vibes. Costa d’Este is centrally located and the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a hotel in Vero Beach that feels luxurious but still laid back.
But there’s more to the story behind Costa d’Este than being a beautiful location for a Vero Beach resort getaway. It’s owned by Gloria and Emilio Estefan! The building was originally The Palm Court Hotel, built in 1972. The Estefans purchased it in 2004, and after a very active hurricane season, they rebuilt and transformed it into what it is today. You’ll definitely feel the Estefans’ Cuban heritage throughout the resort, especially when it comes to the food.

How to Spend Your Time at Coste d’Este
While all 94 guest rooms and suites at Costa d’Este have a private balcony or terrace, not all of them face the beach. I recommend booking an oceanfront room so you can wake up to the most gorgeous sunrise view. That was definitely a highlight of the weekend!
Our Oceanfront King room was perfect. Beautiful wood paneling, walk-in closet, spacious bathroom with a huge shower and vanity, and overall very comfortable accommodations. We never wanted to leave!
Since you’re staying on the beach, you might as well take advantage of it! Costa d’Este charges a $47 per night resort fee which includes things like poolside concierge service, beachfront lounge chairs, sunrise yoga on the beach, Beach Cruiser bikes, non-motorized water sport rentals and more.
The spa at Costa d’Este is a must during your stay. C|Spa offers various massage and facial options, manicures, pedicures, lash tinting, waxing, and more. The spa is open every day, Monday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm. For reservations, call (772) 410-0101 or book online.
C|Spa partners with the skincare product brand, OSEA, to provide guests with rejuvenating spa treatments while also helping to protect the ocean. OSEA products are vegan, cruelty-free, clinically tested, and dedicated to ocean and climate responsibility. When you book an Ocean Renewal facial or body treatmeant, $25 will be donated to 4ocean, a foundation dedicated to reducing plastic pollution by cleaning the ocean, rivers, and coastlines.
We can’t forget about the food and drinks! You can grab these from the Cabana Bar while chilling out by the pool or on the beach, dine out at the signature restaurant, The Wave Kitchen & Bar, or order 24-hour room service.
Pro-tip: make sure to fill out the form for room service breakfast and leave it hanging on the door before you go to sleep. You’ll wake up with breakfast delivered to your door, so you can sit outside on the balcony and eat with a view!
The menus from Cabana Bar and The Wave Kitchen & Bar are the same, filled with Latin American flavors, fresh seasonal produce and local ingredients. We tried a lot of different items throughout the weekend, but I definitely had a few favorites.
Standouts include the plantain cups with ropa vieja and creole sauce (if you know me, you know how much I love plantains in all forms), summer peach and burrata salad with Serrano ham, local seasonal smoked fish dip, and the paella a la Costa. It was filled with all the things: clams, mussels, scallops, shrimp, chorizo, chicken, peppers and peas.
If you have a sweet tooth, definitely indulge in the flourless chocolate cake with a side of espresso gelato. And don’t forget an espresso martini to top it all off!

Not only were the accommodations top notch, but the team was so wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the level of personable attentiveness was unmatched. We had quality conversations with so many of the staff members, and you could tell they all genuinely loved their work. Keep in mind that Costa d’Este has a more boutique, upscale resort feel, rather than a boisterous environment for young children. It can absolutely be considered a family vacation destination, but there are no specific kid-friendly activities or areas designated for younger guests.
