Best Boynton Beach Restaurant for Latin Food: Sabor Latino

On the hunt for a Latin American Boynton Beach restaurant? Sabor Latino has been serving delicious traditional dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily since 2013.

Sabor Latino also has restaurants in Green Acres and Palm Beach Gardens. The Boynton Beach location in Compson Place at Renaissance Commons is closest to me, so it’s become a go-to for South American eats. This is one of my favorite types of cuisine. There are so many amazing flavors and ingredients. My favorite Latin restaurant in Delray Beach recently closed, so I’m thrilled to have Sabor Latino nearby!

This Boynton Beach restaurant is incredibly spacious, with an indoor and outdoor bar, ample indoor dining and room for private parties and events.

What to Order at this Latin American Boynton Beach Restaurant

If you know me, you know how much I love plantains — in all forms. Mariquitas (chips), tostones (fried), maduras (sweet), or mofongo (mashed)… I will always order some type of plantain dish if it’s available.

Naturally, the first thing I ordered was tostones. Tostones are crispy fried green plantains that are smashed flat to resemble a small pancake. The best tostones are perfectly crisp on the outside with a tender, chewy inside. At Sabor Latino, tostones can be ordered in a few different ways. Get them plain, or topped with beef, chicken, shrimp, or pork.

The pork was juicy and flavorful. The tostones had that crunch factor I’m always looking for. And the cilantro sauce…I could honestly have eaten it with a spoon!

Keeping on that plantain train, I love ordering mofongo. This traditional dish from Puerto Rico involves taking green plantains and either frying, boiling, or roasting them. Then they are mashed with olive oil, garlic, salt, and broth.

At Sabor Latino, the green plantains are fried and the mashed mixture also includes bacon. It’s so crispy and salty, that it lends a crazy amount of intense flavor and texture to each bite.

Another must-order for me at any Latin American restaurant is yucca. Yucca, also known as cassava, is a starchy root vegetable used in many Latin dishes. Fried yucca, shaped like thick fries, is commonly seen as a side dish.

Just like with tostones, the exterior is crisp as can be, while the inside is tender and soft. At Sabor Latino Boynton Beach restaurant, it comes with a house-made garlic sauce. I also loved dipping these into the cilantro sauce that came with the tostones.

You will find just about every traditional Latin American dish on the menu here. With so many delicious options, it’s hard to choose!

Ropa Vieja is a good place to start. This tender, shredded beef stew has a house-made sauce, green peas, red bell peppers, and yellow onions. White rice, pinto beans, and tostones (yay!) are served on the side. While some may opt for a knife and fork, I like to pile that flavorful beef on top of the tostones and enjoy it in a few bites.

Let’s round out everything with some seafood. The Spanish-style paella at Sabor Latino comes with sautéed clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari, imported chorizo, and boneless chicken. It’s blended with azafran seasoning, and mixed with yellow rice, vegetables, and a light touch of white wine. You can also add on lobster tail. This is another fantastic option, and great for sharing among hungry friends.

I seriously enjoyed each of these dishes equally, and can’t pick a favorite!
