Let me introduce you to your new favorite Boynton Beach sushi spot! Lemongrass Asian Bistro offers a variety of authentic Asian cuisine, including everything from sushi and dim sum to noodles and rice bowls and more.
There are four locations of Lemongrass Asian Bistro in Palm Beach County: Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Wellington, and Boynton Beach. All four of these Palm Beach sushi restaurants are part of Lemongrass Hospitality, which also owns Ramen Lab Eatery, Ganzo, The Sea Kitchen, and Eat District.
Not too long ago, I had a chance to check out the Boynton location, which recently moved to Compson Place at Renaissance Commons. The new restaurant is absolutely stunning with a friendly staff that makes you feel welcome. Cherry blossoms adorn the indoor-outdoor bar, ornate artwork along the walls, cozy and beautifully decorated booths perfect for date night, and an intimate seating area at the sushi counter…
The decor alone will impress you, but wait until you open the menu for this Boynton Beach sushi restaurant. There is so much to choose from. There are soups, salads, dim sum, bao buns, sushi rolls, sashimi, noodles, stir-fries, rice, curries, and plenty of small plates and entrées. It’s the perfect spot for Asian food and sushi in Boynton Beach.
Lemongrass has always been a go-to for me. It’s very consistent and always delicious. The menu is incredibly gluten-free-friendly too! Gluten-free soy sauce is readily available, and many of the dishes are naturally free of gluten or can be easily accommodated.

You cannot go to Lemongrass without getting at least one of the sushi rolls. There are a ton to choose from. You’ve got all the basic rolls, and classics like the JB roll with salmon and cream cheese, the California roll with kani, cucumber, and avocado, and the Spider Roll with fried soft-shell crab. There are also no-rice rolls, cucumber-wrapped rolls, and of course, signature rolls that are exclusive to the Lemongrass menu.
You can’t go wrong with the Florida Roll. It has tuna, salmon, white fish, and avocado, topped with rainbow tobiko. Simple, straightforward, beautiful to look at, and even more delicious to devour!
The ‘Small Plates from the Sushi Bar’ section of the menu is my favorite. There are so many great appetizers to share, like the salmon yuzu carpaccio. This sashimi style is a simple dish that imparts so much yummy flavor.
Thinly sliced salmon is topped with micro shiso (Japanese mint), black tobiko, and a yuzu pesto sauce. There’s a bright pop of citrus and gorgeous coloring on that salmon. The dish looks as good as it tastes. That’s one thing that Lemongrass does very well — their plating is always so pretty!
This is another sashimi-style dish you have to try, Hotate. These scallops are so delicate and smooth in both texture and flavor. If you have never had scallops prepared raw like this before, you are in for a treat. The dish consists of thinly sliced fresh scallops topped with caviar and truffles that have been infused with yuzu sauce. Yuzu is Japanese citrus, with a tart and sour flavor similar to lemon and lime.
I am a huge fan of hand rolls, and almost always have to get at least one for myself when I’m out for sushi. There is just something about these three-bite sushi snacks that I constantly crave. This is spicy tuna with scallions and rice pop, but I also love the one with salmon skin, scallions, and cucumber.
Lemongrass has a good variety of hand rolls, including a few premium options with fillings like lobster and caviar, wagyu with foie gras and truffle, and uni and toro. One thing to note about hand rolls, though, is that they need to be eaten right away. Otherwise, the nori (seaweed) might start to dry out and stick to the roof of your mouth. Fair warning!
Lemongrass is always a top suggestion when people ask for Boynton Beach sushi recommendations, but we can’t forget about the larger plates, like the Hong Kong-style Chilean sea bass.
There is nothing quite as delicious as a perfectly cooked piece of Chilean sea bass. It melts in your mouth. This preparation includes fresh ginger, butter garlic spinach, celery, leeks, shiitake mushrooms, and an umami soy broth.
To make this gluten free, ask for the broth on the side. Even without the sauce, the dish is still exceptional. The fish is flavorful enough on its own! If you are also dairy free, simply ask to omit the butter from the spinach.
I can’t leave out the signature Lemongrass fried rice. If you love your fried rice packed with all the things, you will love this. It’s a combination of all the proteins: egg, chicken, beef, shrimp, and calamari, mixed with onions, scallions and sweet peas. I’m also a huge fan of the pad Thai. Both of these dishes can be made gluten free. These two things are my go-to orders, especially when I order from Lemongrass for delivery at home.
Please note: Those with Celiac or severe gluten allergies should always tell their server about their dietary restrictions to ensure there is no cross contamination involved in a gluten-free dish. Some preparations may be okay for people with gluten intolerances, but not suitable for those with more severe allergies.
