Escape from Hurricane Isaac: NJ Visit Part 4

My last day in Jersey was pretty relaxing, except for constantly checking the weather in Florida to make sure my flight wasn’t affected. I let myself sleep in and then went for a massage at my favorite spa in Galloway, right near the gym where I used to work out. Cloud 9 is awesome; anyone in NJ who hasn’t gone there, definitely should go for a massage or a facial. They are great! The massage was much-needed. For someone who works out as much as I do, making sure your muscles are tended to is very important. It’s been a while since my last one, so I was really knotted up and it felt great to just relax.
Later that afternoon, my Dad and I went to lunch at The Crab Trap. This is one of my absolute favorite seafood restaurants in south Jersey. It’s in Somers Point, right on the bay, and has been voted “Best Of The Shore” multiple times for its amazing food — especially the Crab Bisque. It’s the best, but eating an entire bowl of it is so filling! It could be a meal on it’s own for some. Dad got a bowl, and I just snuck a few spoonfuls. 🙂 We brought some home for my Mom and sister since they couldn’t come to lunch with us. Bec was getting her senior pictures done — I still can’t believe she’s about to go into her senior year of high school. It makes me feel so old! Pretty soon she’ll be off to college. Ew. That is just too weird to think about.
Back to lunch. Dad got the french dip and I got a crab cake salad. It came with this roasted red pepper remoulade that was so good. I actually preferred that mixed in with the salad over the balsamic dressing. Deeee-lish. I highly, highly recommend The Crab Trap to anyone who is in the south Jersey area (it’s very close to Ocean City, NJ). I’ve never been disappointed with a meal there. The only downside is that they don’t take reservations, and since it’s so popular, you often find yourself waiting to eat. But I promise you, it’s well worth the wait.
Before I headed back to the airport later that day, the whole family went over to YoGo Factory, the frozen yogurt place where my sister works, and went fro-yo crazy. I love the whole “weigh your own” frozen yogurt craze. It’s so fun to try all the different flavors and mix and match the ones that sound good together. I got strawberry cheesecake and pomegranate raspberry. The toppings are always a challenge — I can never figure out what I want!! It took me a lot of walking back and forth before I finally decided on mini m&m’s, toasted coconut and…I know there was something else but I don’t remember! Oops.  While the fro-yo fad started out in California, it really didn’t take long at all for the rest of the country to catch on. NJ has a few good spots near us, but I feel like Florida has SO many more. I’ve been to at least 5 different frozen yogurt places within 5-10 minutes of my apartment.
I got to the airport only to find out that my flight was delayed an hour, so that’s when I started writing this four-part series of posts. It actually made the time go by very quickly and I was boarding before I knew it. The flight sucked, to say the least. There was some turbulence, and I was surrounded by annoying people. Behind me were a bunch of girls that had been drinking and continued to drink during the entire flight — which means they were loud, obnoxious and annoying. In front of me was a little kid with a video game and the volume turned all the way up. Needless to say, I did not enjoy my flight. I did, however, come back to Lindsey greeting me at baggage claim, and my suitcase was one of the first to come out so we were outta there in less than 10 minutes. Coming home, I was expecting it to at least look like we had bad weather, but it really didn’t look like anything had happened at all. Whew. Sorry Isaac, you lose!
