Join March of Dimes and Event Co-Chairs Brett and Lauren Orvieto in the fight to reduce the rate of premature birth rates. The 2017 Broward County Signature Chefs Auction will take place at the Ritz-Carlton in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, September 28th at 6:30pm.
This food-focused fundraising event features well known chefs from popular South Florida restaurants who will treat guests to specially created tastings while they also enjoy wine, cocktails, entertainment and a live auction. By supporting the March of Dimes, you are helping their mission to end prematurity and give every baby a fighting chance. It’s a sad statistic, but according to the Florida Chapter of March of Dimes, the rate of premature births in Florida is one in 10. I have a personal connection to March of Dimes, and am incredibly honored to have been asked to be their sole online media sponsor for this year’s event. When I was younger, my family along with other close family friends participated in the March of Dimes Walk-A-Thons in Atlantic City each summer in honor of a family friend’s son who passed away at a very young age from Cerebral Palsy. If he were alive today, he’d be my age. Our team wore our “Erich’s Angels” t-shirts proudly as we walked that boardwalk path and helped to raise funds in support of March of Dime’s mission to save the lives of premature babies. I will never forget the memories made during those walks, the pre- and post-walk gatherings, and how we banded together for such an amazing cause. Now, years later, I’m proud to continue supporting the organization’s mission at the Signature Chefs Auction and hope you will join me!

There will also be a live auction featuring an exclusive selection of packages to bid on including things like an 8-course tasting with craft beer and wine for up to 8 people at Royal Pig Pub, a Royal Caribbean 7-night Alaskan cruise for 2 people, a 12-course tasting for 8 people at your private residence paired with wine courtesy of Executive Chef Chris Miracolos at S3 Restaurant, and more. All proceeds go to benefit the March of Dimes to help give every baby a fighting chance. Signature Chefs Auction is presented by Envision Physician Services.
This year’s Culinary Chair is Resident Chef Rey De La Osa, formerly of Publix Aprons in Boca Raton, but now he is over at the location in Plantation. If you’ve been reading Take A Bite Out of Boca for a while, you’ll remember that I used to work with Chef Rey at the Boca Publix Aprons a few years back. I’m excited to partner up with him and the Florida Chapter of March of Dimes on this incredible event!
