Marshmallow Dreidels for #Hanukkah

I think Thanksgiving may have overshadowed Hanukkah this year. The first day just didn’t feel as festive because it was crushed with talk of turkey and pumpkin pie and all those Thanksgiving-y things. But now, it’s nearing the end and I’m finally feeling all the Hanukkah joy. Maybe because it’s actually December now, the weather has finally cooled down, and all the turkey talk is over with. Or maybe it’s because I made these really freaking adorable marshmallow dreidels.

This is such a cute idea (found on Pinterest, duh) and really easy to do. The perfect edible craft to keep kids busy while you’re preparing Hanukkah dinner. You can choose from all the different kinds of Hershey’s Kisses available, but I decided to go with the candy cane flavored ones. I know, I know, they are a bit Christmas-y with the red stripes, but whatever!! They’re holiday themed and only available this time of year, so I had to snatch them up.

All you’ll need are some small pretzel sticks, large marshmallows, Hershey’s Kisses, and blue decorating icing. Simply stick the pretzel through the top of the marshmallow and put a little bit of icing on the other end. Stick the kiss onto the icing and hold in place until it sets (about 10 seconds or so). Use the blue icing to write the letters from the dreidel. And there you go: Marshmallow Dreidels!

In case you forget the rules of the game:

Shin: Put one of your gelt coins in the pot.
Chai: Take half of the pot.
Nun: Nada.
Gimel: Take all the gelt from the pot

Not too long ago, my family played dreidel one night during Hanukkah. My mom thought it’d be fun to actually play with real money, so we used quarters. I walked away a winner with $15! Dreidel can get pretty competitive when you’re using the real stuff.

Happy Hanukkah!
