Oreo-filled desserts are pretty popular, especially on the Pinterest circuit. I’m constantly coming across pictures of cookies and brownies with Oreos as the main ingredient. Since I still had some leftover from the brownies I made a couple weekends ago, I decided to try another recipe. This time I turned to The Picky Palate’s chocolate chip Oreo cookies. This is a great blog to check out, especially if you like to bake.
For once, I decided I wasn’t going to skimp on any ingredients to make it less fat. I always try to make desserts a little more healthful if I can, but there have been too many instances where this completely ruins the taste. So despite the fact that it killed me to use butter and real sugar, I did it! I followed the recipe exactly as is, without making any changes or using any substitutions. I really do despise butter; I hate how it tastes and never use it for anything. But it makes all the difference in flavor when you’re baking…
I had to sneak a taste of the dough and it was very, very good — which was a good indication to me that the finished product was going to be delicious. The smell of chocolate filled the kitchen as the cookies baked in the oven. Aside from Oreos used in the recipe, there are chocolate chips and cocoa powder, too, so you can only imagine how amazing they smelled. The end result was my ideal cookie: soft, gooey, and chocolatey, not to mention filled with crushed Oreos which makes them even more perfect. As always, I brought the baked goods to work and let my co-workers in on my tasty treat. They must love having me around…especially when I bring food!
