Publix Breakfast Savings Event & A Giveaway!

One of my favorite things to do is food shopping. Even before I started cooking and blogging, I always loved doing it. When I was in college at Rutgers, grocery day was the best because it got me off campus for a little bit. I’d go to the local grocery store, Stop & Shop (the name still makes me laugh), and spend at least an hour perusing labels in each aisle, carefully selecting my purchases. Of course the things I bought then were much different than the things I buy now. There were lots of frozen meals and quick, easy snacks that I could throw in my bag on my way to class. Now it’s lots of whole, fresh ingredients to use for different recipes. Of course there are always snacks. I love my snacks.

So moving to Florida didn’t change my love for food shopping. It only made it better. Now I had Publix! I always have the best sales, especially the BOGO deals. Right now I only really need to buy groceries for myself, but I know when I have a family and kids to shop for, those deals will definitelycome in handy. Especially ones like the Publix Breakfast Savings Deal going on right now with General Mills Cereals. This past week, select General Mills kid cereals were buy one, get one. Trix, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, Kix, Honey Kix and Hershey’s Cookies ‘n Crème were all included in the deal. Even though I’m not a kid, these cereals are perfect ingredients for recipes! Sugary cereals make great desserts. Or you could even use them in crisp and crumble toppings, or asbreading for chicken! Of all these cereals, Cinnamon Toast Crunch brings back the most childhood memories. It was one of my favorites! I was never really a Cocoa Puffs or Trix fan, and I honestly don’t think I have ever tried Kix. Hershey’s Cookies ‘n Crème definitely was not a cereal back then, but if it were, it would have totally been my number one.
