Burt & Max’s, Deck 84 and Max’s Grille Announce New Summer Menus
All of the Rapoport’s Restaurant Group locations have officially launched their summer menus, featuring brand new dishes that appeal to a variety of palettes and dietary preferences. These restaurants include Burt & Max’s in the Delray Marketplace, Deck 84 in Downtown Delray, and Max’s Grille in Boca Raton’s Mizner Park.
If there is one thing I love about a restaurant, it’s when they frequently change up the menu. Whether it be seasonally, weekly, or nightly, it’s refreshing to go a restaurant and be met with something new during each visit. Of course, every place has their staple menu items that customers know, love, and specifically come in for, but change in other areas is welcome.
Rapoport’s restaurants are well known for switching up their menu each season, keeping the tried and true but swapping out other options and featuring fresh, new food trends, local ingredients and other specialities. Not only are each of the restaurants offering new dishes, but there are also some great summer specials to take advantage of, over the next few month.
Burt & Max’s Summer Specials
Burt & Max’s has been a staple in West Delray since its opening in 2013. The restaurant offers contemporary American cuisine, including an array of items prepared in the brick oven. It has a very modern industrial vibe, spacious outdoor seating, and an indoor and outdoor bar with multiple TVs, perfect for game days.
In addition to their weekend brunch, weekday lunch specials, and daily extended happy hour, this summer they have also introduced ‘Wines-Days’ on Mondays and Wednesdays. Guests can get half-priced bottles of wine with the purchase of any entrée (does not include champagne or sparkling wines).
Here’s a peek at some of the new summer menu items:
- Salmon a la Planca: cauliflower rice, roasted red pepper, toasted cashews, fresh herb puree
- Blackened Shrimp Bowl: coconut ginger rice, pico de gallo, avocado, radish, arugula, roasted mini peppers, cilantro aioli
- Lettuce Wraps: nuoc cham & sweet chili hoisin, cilantro, Asian vegetable slaw, crispy wontons, Bibb lettuce; choose between ground chicken & shiitake mushroom or the vegetarian option, quinoa, shiitakes & scallions
- Filet Tip Sliders: filet tips, horseradish creme, crispy onion, arugula, challah slider buns, served with french fries
I tried the salmon and shrimp dishes, as both are naturally gluten and dairy free, without the need for any alterations. The salmon is definitely going to be my summer go-to dish whenever I visit Burt & Max’s. I loved all of the flavors and textures, not to mention it has a really pretty presentation.
Deck 84 Summer Specials
Deck 84 has long been known as one of the top places for alfresco dining on the water. The restaurant’s outdoor patio area overlooking the Intracoastal is an ideal spot for brunch, lunch, and dinner, or simply grabbing a drink with friends. There is 150 feet of easy access dock space, so you can ‘dock and dine’ at your leisure.
In addition to ‘Taco Tuesday’ and ‘In The Biz Sunday’ specials, hosting live music every Saturday and Sunday, and weekend brunch specials, this summer will also offer daily extended happy hour Monday through Friday from 12-6pm, with a happy hour food menu available from 3-6pm at the bar and high tops.
Here’s a peek at some of the new summer menu items:
- Crispy Fish Sandwich: buttermilk fried haddock, tartar sauce, shredded lettuce & onion, challah bun
- Ahi Tuna Nachos: crispy wontons with ponzu dressed tuna, avocado puree, spicy aioli, cucumber, toasted sesame, cilantro, scallion, furikake
- Chicken Empanadas: pulled chicken, sofrito & cheddar cheese in a crispy shell with poblano crema, chimichurri, cilantro, queso fresco
- BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders: pineapple-cilantro slaw, crispy onion, mango bbq, challah slider bun
- Hawaiian Shrimp Bowl: grilled shrimp, mango-chili glazed Brussels sprouts, tropical quinoa salad, toasted coconut, pineapple relish, roasted almonds, marinated arugula
I had a chance to try the Hawaiian Shrimp Bowl, which is totally Shaina-friendly minus the pineapple slaw, and it was delish. The Brussels are charred to perfection and have so much flavor.
Max’s Grille Summer Specials
Max’s Grille has been delighting diners for 30 years in its Mizner Park location. I’ve been going to this restaurant with my family for as long as it’s been open! The restaurant is known for modern twists on traditional American cuisine. The style of cooking at Max’s is rooted in what’s known as the “California movement,” where light, clean flavors, unique combinations and local products are at the center of the menu.
On top of the new summer menu, current specials include daily extended happy hour, lunch specials, weekend brunch, and live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday outside on the patio. The Wine & Dine Menu is also a favorite, offered every day from 5-6:30pm, in which guests can get a free soup or salad with the purchase of a classic entrée or a free bottle of house wine with the purchase of two entrées. Sushi is now offered every day for both lunch and dinner.
Here’s a peek at some of the new summer menu items:
- Hanger Steak: za’atar rubbed & grilled, truffle parm fries, balsamic onion-pink peppercorn butter, arugula & cherry tomato salad
- Mediterranean Shrimp Bowl: harissa roasted shrimp, organic quinoa, sauteed baby kale, sweet baby bell peppers, kalamata olives, grilled zucchini, edamame bean gremolata
- Pork Milanese: 10oz thinly pounded, breaded pork chop, arugula & baby kale salad, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, grana padano, lemon oregano dressing
- Firecracker Roll: shrimp tempura, asparagus, cilantro, cream cheese, spicy #1 yellowfin tuna, tobiko, topped with #1 tuna, avocado, wasabi cream, eel sauce, wasabi seeds
The Mediterranean Shrimp Bowl is something I would order again and again. I love the combination of edamame and pistachio in the gremolata, and the spice on the shrimp was perfectly balanced. The new sushi menu at Max’s is awesome too — many of the rolls can be made gluten-free, just ask your server!
