Toast the end of summer with a refreshing mix of sweet white wine, vodka, peach schnapps and club soda. Peaches and nectarines soak up all the flavor and make a nice treat to snack on as you sip on this Summer Sangria.

We’re about halfway through September and although the blog world is all pumpkin and apple and fall spices galore, I’m still in summer mode. This is Florida, after all. I step outside and am hit in the face with sunshine and heat. All I really feel like doing is relaxing at the pool with a refreshing glass of Summer Sangria.

Summer technically doesn’t even end until September 21st, right? So Summer Sangria is still a perfectly acceptable drink to sip on for the next week. Plus, peaches and nectarines are still in season and as juicy and sweet as ever. This is your chance to use them up before our minds are overloaded with fall produce and you forget about the beautiful bounty of fresh fruit that summer brings. Not that you really can ever forget about peaches and nectarines.

Summer Sangria cools you down when the weather is hot, it perks you up when you need a little kick, and makes for wonderful company while you’re spending your afternoon poolside.

Not to mention it’s really easy to make and technically doesn’t even need to be left overnight like most sangria recipes call for. I made it and was enjoying a glass about fifteen minutes later. Of course you could leave the fruit soaking overnight for an even more intense flavor, but I felt the peaches and nectarines soaked up all the sangria-y goodness just as well without it. Yes, sangria-y is now a word. Bare with me, people, food bloggers are allowed to make up words so we can get our point across. We should make a dictionary full of words we make up for our posts. Who’s with me?

Let’s make some Summer Sangria!
