October Happenings at Rapoport’s Restaurant Group

October Happenings at Rapoport’s Restaurant Group

As we transition from the slower summer months into full season here in South Florida, there is a lot to look forward to at each of the Rapoport’s Restaurant Group locations. Let’s take a look at what’s going on this month at Max’s Grille, Burt & Max’s, Deck 84 and Pagoda Kitchen!

Max’s Grille started its Whiskey Social event series over the summer and it was met with rave reviews. Previous events featured Jefferson’s Bourbon, Four Roses and Bardstown Bourbon Fusion Series. It will continue on Thursday, October 6th, this time featuring Blackened Whiskey, a super-premium American whiskey from late Master Distiller Dave Pickerell and a little rock band you may have heard of before… Metallica. 😉

This rockin’ fun night will include three Blackened Whiskey tastings, a welcome beer from Boca Raton-based Prosperity Brewing, and passed appetizers from Chef Mike Casari and the Max’s Grille team. Additional Blackened Whiskey cocktails will also be available for $10. Tickets for the whiskey social are $65/person, and can be purchased at https://www.maxsgrille.com/event/whiskey/. Seating is limited, and registration closes on October 5th.

Max’s Grille also has live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings outside on the patio, weather permitting. Thursday night tunes are from 7:30-10:30pm, and Friday and Saturday are from 8:30-11:30pm. Here’s the lineup for October (subject to change):

  • Thursdays- Reggae Souljahs
  • Fridays – DJ Hastyle
  • Saturday, Oct. 1: Alex Fox
  • Saturday, Oct. 8, 15, 22: DJ Eli
  • Saturday, Oct. 29: Weekend Therapy

Be on the lookout for new menu updates in the beginning of the month, with items like chicken meatball sliders, lobster pasta, short rib, smoked salmon Benedict at brunch and more!

If you have ever been to Burt & Max’s, you know how cozy it can be to sit outside on the patio during the cooler fall and winter months. The couches are paired with fire pits, so you won’t be bothered during those nights that we do have a little nip in the air. Now that live music is back at the Delray Marketplace, sitting outside is even better!

Burt & Max’s is located right next to the amphitheater where local talent will take the stage every Wednesday night from 6-8pm, starting October 5th. Here’s the lineup:

  • Oct. 5: Hot Sauce Moon, Americana Classic Artists
  • Oct. 12: Don’t Stop The Music, Hits Thru the Decades
  • Oct. 19: The Cravins, Dance Rock with Rolling Stones Influence
  • Oct. 26: Moon Light Thief, Classic R&B Dance

New menu items will roll out at the beginning of the month as well, and stay tuned for details on the next Cigar & Whiskey Night!

Deck 84

One of the things people love about Deck 84 — aside from its prime location on the Intracoastal — is that dogs are always welcome on the deck!

To celebrate how much Rapoport’s Restaurant Group loves its furry friends, Deck 84 is hosting a Supplies & Sips night on Thursday, October 13th from 5:30-7:30pm, benefitting the Tri-County Animal Rescue as part of the Delray Chamber’s Do Good Delray event series.

Bring an item for the Animal Rescue to the event and you will receive a free drink ticket valid at Deck 84 that night (one ticket per person). The more items you bring, the better! Each additional item brought will grant you an entry into a raffle drawing for gift cards to Deck 84, Burt & Max’s, Max’s Grille and Pagoda Kitchen, a bottle of One Hope Wine, a gift basket from Scoopy Doos & more!

In addition, there will be a limited-time-only cocktail available from October 1-13, with 50% of its sales to be donated to Tri-County. The “Peanut Butter Pup” cocktail will feature Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey, Frangelico, and Baileys Irish Cream.

Later in the month, Deck 84 will join in on the fun for Downtown Delray’s Art & Jazz on the Ave event on Wednesday, October 26th. Hang out at Deck that night from 5-7pm and listen to live jazz entertainment from saxophonist, Scott Klarman. Reservations will not be available that evening; walk-ins only.

As always, live music can also be enjoyed every Saturday and Sunday from 2-5:30pm after brunch.

Pagoda Kitchen

Pagoda Kitchen is still the newbie in town as far as Rapoport’s restaurants go, but it is quickly becoming a favorite. I for one absolutely love its gluten-friendly menu!

Currently, Pagoda Kitchen is only open for dinner daily starting at 4:30pm, however weekend lunch will launch in October! The lunch menu will be available Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

In addition to adding a lunch menu, there will be some big menu changes starting Monday, October 3rd. Cauliflower rice will no longer be available as a side option, which honestly, I am totally on board with because I do not like cauliflower rice. Instead, stir-fry vegetables will now be available as a low-carb side option.

Select main dishes will now come with a choice of steamed white or brown rice, or you can upgrade to fried rice. Some of the new dishes coming are chicken lemongrass dumplings, shiitake mushroom potstickers, crispy spicy beef, and what I am most excited to try: pad Thai!

As mentioned for Burt & Max’s, live music is back at the Delray Marketplace, and Pagoda Kitchen is also right next to the amphitheater. Sit outside on the patio for great entertainment on Wednesday evenings!
